In a move that we predicted more than a year ago, Disney executives announced yesterday that the fourth installment of the Pirates saga has been put into development. If the project finally makes its way into production, count on seeing Johnny Depp return as Captain Jack. At this time, the return of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley remains unconfirmed.
The announcement was made at the Kodak Theater during Disney's preview of upcoming features and projects. During the presentation, it was also revealed that Depp would portray the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, a live action/CG blend to be shown in 3D, and that he would also appear as Tonto in the film version of TV's The Lone Ranger.
