Greetings, crew!
Our news team is once again on deck, and ready to set sail "On Stranger Tides". Without further ado, here be news:
With a new director at the helm (Rob Marshall), and Jerry Bruckheimer producing, “Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” is set to begin filming this month on location in Kauai and Oahu, Hawaii and in London. Johnny Depp and Jerry Bruckheimer were in Hawaii earlier this week doing some pre-production work. In addition, the Black Pearl is undergoing some major changes, including a new figurehead in the form of a demon skeleton.
The story is based on the Tim Powers novel, "On Stranger Tides" and promises to be an exciting new adventure on uncharted waters with new characters. The confirmed cast includes Ian McShane as Blackbeard, Penelope Cruz as Blackbeard’s daughter and the love interest of Jack Sparrow. Geoffrey Rush returns on board as Captain Hector Barbossa. Some additional new faces include French actress Astrid Bergès-Frisbey who plays a mermaid in this fourth installment, Sam Claflin has also been signed to play a young missionary by the name of Philip, and Stephen Graham is set to play Scram, Jack Sparrow’s sidekick. And of course, Johnny Depp is back as Captain Jack Sparrow.
Despite the resignation of Dick Cook and recent budget cuts for movie production, Pirates of the Caribbean will continue to sail through these stormy waters with an anticipated release date of May 20, 2011.
