Jim Hill Media reports today on a rumored change coming to Walt Disney World's Discovery Island, the former wildlife preserve located in Bay Lake. The 11-plus acre island, originally called Raz Island, has been closed to the public since 1999, after the animals were relocated to Disney's Animal Kingdom park.
The rumor centers on a plan to reopen the island with a Pirates of the Caribbean theme, featuring everyone's favorite Captain.

(Ed. Note: While only a rumor, this plan makes perfect sense. Discovery Island is a prime piece of real estate in a terrific location, and is easily and quickly reachable by boat. It probably depends largely on what condition the remaining infrastructure on the island is in, and how well it's been maintained in the last decade.)
