Fast food giant McDonald's is reportedly rethinking its merchandising tie-in agreement with Disney. At Wednesday's shareholder meeting, McDonald's Chief Executive Jim Skinner said "Our deal with them expires in '06 and we are looking forward to the opportunity to have flexibility around promotional activities and products." He continued, "yet we continue to work effectively with Walt Disney."
The restaurant operates various outlets at US Disney theme parks, ranging from a fry wagon at Anaheim's Disneyland Park to full restaurants at Walt Disney World's Downtown Disney, Disney's Animal Kingdom Park and other locations at the resort.
The merchandising agreement that expires next year covers film promotions, television shows, theme park promotions and video and DVD releases as well as McDonald's restaurant outlets at Disney parks, one source said.
