Bob and Harvey Weinstein are moving forward with their new company, currently called the Weinstein Co. In a recently announced agreement, Disney will retain the rights to the Miramax name and film library, while the Weinsteins will keep the Dimension Films label. During the 12-year relationship between Disney and the Weinsteins, Miramax films grossed over four billion US dollars and won a total of 53 Academy Awards including 3 Best Picture Oscars.

Harvey Weinstein said the Weinstein Co. leaves the partnership "with the relationships of what we believe are some of the most significant and the most profitable filmmakers in the world."

One of those filmmakers, Robert Rodriguez ("Sin City") commented, "If they're moving somewhere, you gotta go with them, or what, you're going to start making regular movies? They've still got the same taste. And they've got more to prove now, so they may do even better material."
