Putting to rest a long-standing rumor, several sources are reporting today that Keith Richards is out of the running to play Captain Jack's father in Pirates of the Caribbean 3. Scheduling conflicts are said to be the reason.

(ed note: this makes perfect sense, as the Rolling Stones are currently on a world tour at the same time POTC3 is shooting.)

Disney's Tarzan, the live musical based on the hit animated film, will open on Broadway in May 2006, according to producer Thomas Schumacher.

The musical will make its home in the Richard Rodgers Theatre, currently the home of the Billy Joel-inspired musical Movin' Out. Movin' Out will reportedly do just that before the end of this year.

The musical will be directed by Tony Award winner Bob Crowley, with an expanded score by Oscar winner Phil Collins.
